Minister’s Welcome
Justa sec …
I thought I heard the phone ringing. Maybe you heard it? It was really faint, distant. … Nah. Maybe I just thought I heard it.
That is sort of how we are called into community. There are any number of communities around … calling. Some are on their tiptoes screaming at the top of their lungs through a gigantic loudspeaker. Others are like a normal conversation. And still others are just quiet whispers from the back of our mind and thoughts.
We choose who and what to hear and whether and how we respond to these callings. They all compete for our attention, our time and our resources. Like all the others, our United Church community is probably calling. Maybe that is why you are reading my welcome message. We try to posture our place in the community as one of welcoming to everyone. If you are alive and breathing, then you will likely find our church community welcoming and friendly. We tend to be grateful to visitors and our members for blessing our church with their presence.
Our faith doctrine is quite open. We are Christians and hold Christian values. We are also open to those who practice other faiths and beliefs. Whenever there is conflict, we seek peaceful common ground toward resolution. We pray for this, amongst ourselves, within our community and for those around the world.
If it feels like a faith community might be nice to be a part of, feel free to join our worship service on Sunday morning or just drop by our church office and say “Hi”. We’d love to hear from you.
